Vaigai Dam is built across the Vaigai River near Andipatti, in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu, southern India. It provides water for irrigation for the Madurai district and the Dindigul district as well as drinking water to Madurai and Andipatti.Near the dam the Government of Tamil Nadu has constructed the Agricultural Research Station for researching the growing of a variety of crops, including rice, sorghum, blackgram, cowpea and cotton.
Suruli Falls situated 48 Km from Genguvarpatty (Theni District (56 Km) / Tamilnadu) of Western Ghats. When driving to the falls, you can see glories views along side of the road. You can see many Grape Gardens and you can purchase fresh grapes there.The Suruli Falls which falls from a height of 150 feet gathers into a pool, flows for a short distance and again plummets to a depth of 40 feet, offering a spectacular sight of nature''s raw and wild beauty. The dense forest that surround it provide an awesome backdrop.
The special feature of the fall is that it is a round the year fall. However, the best season to visit is June - October, when the thickness of the water column is astounding.
The Kumbakarai Falls is a tourist spot in natural surroundings. It is situated at 30 K.m. from Genguvarpatty. The water originates in Kodaikanal Hills and flows along the rocks and finally reaches the foot hills. This place is called Kumbakarai. The falls creates a lot of noise along with the nice , soft and beautiful songs of several birds. The travelers come here and take bath in the falls. The water flows throughout the year; but in rainy seasons the flow will be very heavy. Some of the travelers walk along the falls in the ghat road and will reach Kodaikanal.
Sri Sendraya perumal temple is an ancient temple of Sri Sendraya Perumal situated in a hill near old Batlagundu. Mr Kannan is a priest in this temple. He is involved in developmental activities like Anna Thaanam (To provide free meals), building new Mandabams (Halls). The people of all faiths and religions visit this temple. The temple festival is held in Kottaipatti village every alternate year.
Kamatchi Amman Temple Located here is Very famous among nearby Villages and Towns.Its believed here that it is the "Goddess of rain". People used to pray here in the mid September considering the water resources for their cultivation in this period. There are lot of ancient tales derived from the god here.
